Best Review on Spektrum DX6i DSMX 6 Channel Transmitter
The reason you start here is this is the lowest end programable radio in the line. It will also carry you all the way through the Blade 450D. So for the low price of 160 bucks you have a radio that will start you off and take you all the way to 3D flying. Additionally, with a 10 model memory, you can have quite a few aircraft in your fleet and still have the ability to fly any of them.
The programability is very important as it can completely change the feel of your aircraft to your preferences. If you are flying a Blade helicopter, then all the programing parameters can be found with the helo or online. There are also some ebooks I have found which have good information on what each function does. This is important as the manual is lacking in why or why you would or would not want to do something.
So the place to start learning to fly an RC Helicopter is with this radio and the Phoenix R/C Pro Simulator Version 3.0. Put your hours in practicing maneuvers on the sim. After you've got those down, unplug, your radio (unfortunately, as of right now the Blade mCP X requires collective reversing for DX6i while in the sim it uses normal collective so you will have to change models.), change models to the live model and fly.
For the price this radio has some amazing features. I have paid a lot more for a far less capable radio.

Buy this unit instead of the 4 or the 5. You wont regret it. I fly planes and Heli's and this is the most manageable receiver for beginners to advanced pilots. I went through two ready to fly kits before I got smart and moved the DX6i and BNF (bind n fly). This receiver will move with you and your abilities.
BalasHapusI'm old school - AM then FM radios - gas engines. That was the past. Now for the new. Servo reversing switches were just coming to be when I stopped flying. Now I can mix, use dual rates, exponential, reversing... I can store up to 10 planes/helicopters in one radio - Trim a plane, have it memorized, then when I select that plane, it's ready to go - trimmed.
BalasHapusVery easy to use, easy to program. I love it!
What an incredible transmitter!!! I have a Blade mSR and a Blade SR. I was using the standard 6-channel Blade SR transmitter for both heli's but the mSR just wouldn't work right. It wouldn't pirouette properly with the stock SR transmitter. Once I purchased this, it had no problems doing anything. I did go on YouTube to figure out the best way to program it for my mSR and that seemed to be the best route. I'm relatively new to RC heli's and have only had them for about 5 months now, but thus far I'm extremely happy with this DX6i.
BalasHapusWith 10 model memory, it will be a while before I need any other transmitter. Has many of the advanced functions you would expect from a more expensive transmitter. Stick action is nice and smooth. Right now, I'm still flying a Telemaster trainer, but I can see more complicated models in my future and I think this transmitter will do nicely for them as well.
BalasHapusI have Blade MCX2's, an MQX, a 120 SR, and a Pro Boat Apache. Though there is a learning curve, the transmitter is programable to slow down (or speed up) these beasts. Works with all 6 or less channel Spektrum receiver products. Check out bindnfly.com to see how many can be flown with this. And yes, it works with Spektrum Marine receiver boats too.
BalasHapushas plenty of features for the beginner to intermediate. good first purchase for someone starting out in the rc world.
BalasHapusI've been flying with this controller for the past 5 months and it has been great. The design is very good and it has a well put together feel to it. Absolutely no complaints.
BalasHapusHe described my experience with this transmitter perfectly. I was flying a Blade mcx with the included transmitter and that worked fine. I bought a Blade mqx with the stock transmitter and that was a handful. I got the Dx6i and that tamed the mqx and has made it fun to fly. And now I can get some of those cool eflite park BNF planes to putz around with in the front yard. Sure is a lot of capability for $160. I paid $450 in 1992 for a used Futaba 6 channel 72MHz PCM radio and thought I was the king of the flying field. This one does all that one did for a lot less. This hobby sure has changed in the last 20 years.
BalasHapusI use this to fly a blade outdoor helicopter. It is a well designed controller. the variability is endless. Easy to program. I decided on the one with a LCD screen over their other model. Excellent choice. the screen makes it easy to program.
