Most Popular on U803 Channel Military Helicopter Gyroscope
My review of the Syma S109 applies equally to this littler heli (in fact, this one gets downright fast when you remove the horizontal stabilizer): Like the Syma S108 (see my review and RCmania.com review), all the great Syma S series are a little underpowered above 5000ft. This Apache version has quite a few exterior parts that can be removed to lighten the heli so that it will fly briskly (and you will also get the advertised battery life) at higher altitudes.
Our family has owned many of the Syma S series and love them all because the 3 channel controls are so precise and they fly so eagerly. Perfect starter RC heli. Excellent introduction to hovering (its default posture), scale flying (circuits and patterns, figure eights, etc.) and nose in orientation.
A good next step up is a 4 channel coaxial, followed by single rotor Fixed Pitch (see my reviews of Eflite Blade's MCX, WI Toys 911 and Double Horse 9116).

This has been the most amazing RC helicopter we have ever owned. The control is incredible. The lights flashing are a lot of fun for the kids. Have used it mainly indoors and has taken a lot of abuse from the kids and it keeps on flying. Have had several other helicopters in this price range - they don't have control, they break easily, they don't hold a charge very long. For the price, have not seen a better RC helicopter out there.
BalasHapusthis is a great little copter for the money withstands many crashes easy to learn how to fly i would recommend this to anyone
BalasHapusThis is a great little RC Helicopter. It looks awesome and the controls are exceptional. The response to the remote is right on track, immediate. It is really stable, which is the whole idea with the gyro. Not like others Ive had trouble with as far as stability goes.
BalasHapusI highly recommend this one. Its great for the price. At around 20 bucks, its great
. This is how these helis should operate. Im very pleased with this purchase. Well done....
Bought for my grandson who has learned to fly these things and land them in the palm of his hand. Great for indoors and they seem very durable.
BalasHapusFrom a parent's perspective, the price-to-fun ratio of these helicopters is absolutely FANTASTIC. They are almost as much fun to watch as they are to fly.
BalasHapusOur 13 year old son has been helicopter crazy for at least the last four years; new choppers have been delivered each Christmas and birthday (to his continued delight) and he has many made by SYMA (S107Gs, S111G, S102G, etc...) and this was his first from UDI -- but it will not be his last.
When asked to review the UDI U803 in comparison to the others, he said that 'it is lightweight and very fast to take-off, descend, and run in a straight line. The battery seems to last longer than some others too.'
It took him a couple minutes of operating time to get used to the U803's hyper-quick response to controller adjustment, and then he was playing with it non-stop. While enjoying them all, he recommends the S107G or S111G for first time pilots who could then graduate to the hyperactive and very fun U803. He also likes being able to turn the spot light on and off at will, and really likes being able to plug the USB charge cord into his laptop (versus always having to find the charger).
These mini-copters are made for indoor use and they get crash landed on stairs, against walls, on kitchen tables, against mantles... even run over by a golden retriever... but they keep on going. I like that.
The one potentially disappointing thing was that one of the rocket pods was knocked off during shipping, and we initially thought it was broken and would need to be returned since the weight distribution of the heli was off balance. Upon closer inspection we realized that it had just come loose, and a little Gorilla Glue (Gorilla Glue 7800101 Super Glue Tubes, 2-Piece, 3 Gram) in the right place effected an excellent repair. We have read where others have had similar shipping issues, so maybe that's a place where UDI could look to improve.
Bottom line -- we frequently recommend SYMA helicopters to others and they are our typical birthday party gift (even for a few fun natured adults!). Now we will gladly add UDI helicopters to the gift list. Excellent.
Get one, get hooked, and then keep your fleet well maintained! Have fun!
I own a Syma 107g, 109g, and now this UDI U803. This one is the smallest, lightest, fastest, most stable, and has the longest BATTERY LIFE. I picked these Mini RC Helicopters up recently as a fun hobby, and I fly the heck out of them. The two Symas now have under-powered lower rotors and this is the only one I fly. Well worth $22, and highly entertaining, durable, and reuseable.
BalasHapusThe Trim Adjust is on the right side of the controller.
The light on the nose (TADS/PNVS) is bright, and the colored lights underneath are a nice effect. You can turn them on/off from the left side of the controller as you like.
The red glow coming from the Crewstation is pretty cool too.
Caution: The collective throttle is not spring-loaded, so if/when you crash, pull your thumb back so the blades don't keep spinning! It's GREAT for a steady HOVER though!
I GOT IT FOR MY GRANDSON FOR HIS BIRTHDAY HE IS IN THE NAVY . HE GOT HURT IN BOOT CAMP THIS GIVES HIM SOMETHING TO DO WHILE HE IS GETTING BETTER. HE LOVES IT. THE MINIINDOOR HELICOPTER

Husband and kids love it! It is easy to operate and flies well. They use it until it's dead recharge and play again.
