Best Review on TORNADO 2 4GHz Brushless Electric REDCAT
I give this car a 5 star rating for a few reasons, price, all in one package, and comparison to friend's cars.
The price is hard to beat. For $200 a ready to drive out of box car is nice, but where it really all ties together is with the all in one package. The car is built well, it comes with a battery, it has a radio, and it comes with a charger. Compared to friends who spent a $100 more for similar packages including motor size, scale, and 4wd it is on par with speed.
My first run only lasted about 10 minutes. I took it on hard compact sand/dirt and it ran like a champ. Similar speeds to a 2WD Traxxas Stampede running a 2S 5000 mAH LiPO, but it ultimately lacked the top speed. After about 5 minutes of on the dirt, I took it to the road. On the road this thing was flying.
This package is great for a beginner into RC cars. I have already purchased an upgrade for it that consists of a 2S 5000 mAH LiPO and charger that has shown to increase speed and runtimes. A must have upgrade for anyone wanting to play with this car more then 10 minutes.
Overall, TL:DR
Pros:
Price
All in one
Medium level parts
Cons:
Stock battery is a little lacking

Looking for a good rc car that is quick, off road and fairly priced that can replace my aging tornado epx pro from redcat racing. I want a decent one but don't want to abuse my wallet too much.
BalasHapusI am very interested in getting in the rc hobby. I think at the moment I'm interested more in electric brushless and RTR instead of a kit. And I will use it on pavement and off-road as well. I think I am more interested in a basher? Or maybe something that is good on both pavement and off road, no crawlers at the moment. I have known about traxxas, losi, and hpi as more or less the leaders in the rc catagory. I really like the 2.4Ghz 1/16 e-revo vxl and the 1/16 rally vxl or even the 4x4 1/16 slash but they are a bit pricey. When I started to research more into it, I got overwhelmed with all the hobby brands. Today I found something that seems like a great value and that's the 4wd exceed sunfire/redcat tornado, they're anywhere between $125-180 RTR, 2.4GHz and Brushless!! Almost seems too good to be true. I am a beginner so I dont have super high expectations but I want a good value. What would you recommend? Money is tight but I have always been interested in the rc hobby. As you can tell, I would prefer a 1/10 or 1/16. Sorry if im all over the place but as you can see I am overwhelmed but have put some time in research and need experienced opinions at this point. AND visiting a hobby shop is not an option as the only one we had closed about two years ago and the nearest one is 3.5 hours away. Your help is ery much appreciated.
