First of all, my background is that I started flying R/C planes back in the middle 70's, quit for awhile to have kids, then when the kids were older we all did the R/C cars together. Afterwards I raced nitro R/C boats, scale boats, and sail boats. So, I've tried a lot of different R/C machines and have been pretty proficient with them. I thought helicopters would be easy and indeed the coaxial types were easy but they got me hooked to try more. I now own six R/C helicopters ranging from the good ol' Syma 107G that started the fever up to a Hausler 450 T-Rex clone. I didn't have trouble like a normal newbie knowing my right and left when the model wass coming towards me. After all these years that is pretty automatic now. I could hover pretty well too. But I kept getting into side slips that caused a crash and I couldn't react fast enough nor did I even know HOW to get out of them. Even more so, I didn't know what I was doing wrong to get into them in the first place. After several crashes I was getting discouraged so finally I ordered this basic version of Real Flight. I didn't need all the extra games and stuff that the full blown version comes with, just something to use that I could crash over and over without having to keep buying and replacing parts. When I got it last Friday I installed it (it was very easy) and fired it up. I was curious how true this would feel so I loaded up a trainer airplane which is something I had flown over and over way back when. It felt just like it did for real. That was encouraging to know they had been true to the physics of the models. So I loaded up the trainer helicopter, practiced hovering just to trim it out correctly, and started flying. Sure enough I started crashing just like I had been in real life! There were the side slips I couldn't catch! Over the next two days I practiced many more times and learned what I was doing wrong. I also learned how to fly it in forward flight. Now hopefully I won't wreck tonight when I go out to try it for real but I was VERY impressed that the simulator replicated what I was doing in real life in the simulation. That tells me the skills you learn here on the computer will help when flying your real R/C helicopter. Oh by the way, the fake R/C transmitter that you use as a joystick feels pretty good in your hands but it does come with a ratchet throttle that can be removed pretty easily. There are several YouTube videos on how to reverse the ratchet plate inside the USB transmitter so that the throttle moves smoothly. As I said, as millions have told us newbies, this software pays for itself. They are right.... Get it....

I picked some of these up on Amazon from Battery SuperStore as an add on to some other items. These were around $3 each, and at that price the value cannot be beat! I am flying the Micro Fokker DR.1 and Micro Nieuport 17 with these batteries. The weight of this battery is about 4.3 grams (sorry I did not weigh it before I modified it for the planes). With two small velcro dots glued on and a pull tab made of electrical tape, the weight is 4.6 grams.
BalasHapusBefore using these for flight I capacity tested, stress tested and cycled these cells on my computer charger/discharger. After several preflight cycles and now many hours of flight time, they have proven to be what they claim: a good quality, lower resistance 160mah lipo cell.
With these extra batteries and a Celectra 4-port charger I can fly my indoor for an hour or more. That's a lot better than fly/wait fly/wait etc.
BalasHapusFirst of all, I can not speak for the tenergy 130 mah packs that everyone keeps bashing. I do however own 3 of this exact battery. This item is a night and day difference compared to the e-flight 150 mah pack. Way more flight time, and more importantly..... way more power (less $$ is a plus also)! I have no issues with them falling apart, or not fitting the charger/heli........ they did NOT have to be modified at all! Great battery.... a must have for the MSR!
BalasHapusI use a few of these to fly my Champ RC plane and its nice to have backup batteries. They work very well.
BalasHapusWorks great on my micro helicopter Xieda 9958. Lighter, more power than my original battery that came with the heli. Flight time is about 4-1/2 minutes with no loss of power thru out flight.
BalasHapusI get over 10 minutes of flight time. They fit perfectly in a mcx2 with no modificatioin. They are longer than the original eFlite battery but they last longer and do not affect performance of the heli.
BalasHapusLarger than my original battery that came with my Blade mCX helicopter, but that is no problem for it. It has more capacity which is always good. I may order some more.
