Best Review on God Evil Case World Filled
God and evil.
this book is a very good resource for an individual looking into this topic either for the first time or are relatively new to the argument.
I am impressed with the large number of essays covering a vast number of topics, its great to see so many different individuals contributed to this book thereby attempting to reduce bias. While the majority of the contributors are Evangelical Christians, the number of scholars and theologians compiled in one volume are generally not available outside of a costly text book.
I am always hesitant to promote any one book, but rather I recommend gathering a number of books on the same topic, so as to be able to get a wide range perspectives, however this book does a good job of making those perspectives available.
I am also very glad to see the debate between William Lane Craig and Michael Tooley available in print, I wish there were more of these types of resources available.
In all I would recommend this for an individual who is learning about the topic of evil, its not overly heady, but does give a good basis of comparison.
While no one volume could possibly cover all points of this ever changing and hotly contested topic it's a good book, in true InterVarsity Press form this book is well thought out with highly credible contributors to create a very timely book.
There are a number of recent situations that have occurred where the question of how to reconcile God and evil or pain. This topic is certainly needing a few more good in depth studies but I am happy to say that this book does a good job of giving well thought out answers to the questions.
We must be mindful of overstating or over expecting any single volume to cover all sides of an argument. The most we should logically expect is that a volume worth reading (and buying) will have a good coverage. I firmly believe that this book qualifies.
What history does social media (facebook, myspace, twitter, etc) have culturally? How do different cultures use different forms of social media? What impact has it had throughout history?
BalasHapusI know that supposedly some famous people and many people around the world as well as politicians, were/are in secret societies and cults. I was just wondering, what's the point? Do they think that some satanic or other force will give them power when they die? I mean, if we all die, then what's the point of wanting power? Do they have a motive other than ignorance and superiority?
BalasHapusI've often seen Christians on here and in real life go on about how horrible and amoral today's world is, this implies there was some time in the past where things were better. What time period did you have in mind?
BalasHapusFor nearly a year now, I've found it hard to maintain long conversations with people. It's as if there is a blockage in my mind. I used to be very talkative and could converse with pretty much anybody even a stranger but now I struggle to find things to talk about. I want to be able to communicate the way I used to before this problem but don't know what to do. I've already tried drinking alcohol but that didn't seem to help.
BalasHapusI'm terribly shy and I can't overcome my fear. I never talk to anybody I don't know. Can you list a few strategies?
BalasHapusworld. Does it have something to do with his religion? Mormons believe that God created America to be the greatest nation and that everyone should be like us. Isn't that kind of talk making people hate us even more? All he's doing is confirming to those who say we're imperialist that we really are imperialists.
BalasHapusI understand that to the Israelites, God was the source of both good and evil - he said so himself. His actions and calls for genocide also made it clear that he has a malevolent side. As a matter of fact, taking into consideration the evidence at hand (bible) God could've avoided everything, from the supposed fall of man, to his son coming again to wreak havoc on the earth. He made us with bodies predetermined to sin - many sins (like lust) are natural... making it easier to offend him etc. It just seems like God created us as some kind of afterthought for some twisted story line, 'cause as an omnipotent being, he could've done better. I do admit that he has a very loving side though.
BalasHapusThe Biblical flood account is just one of thousands, almost every single culture, tribe or people has a great flood as part of their religion or mythology. They're all different, but all process common themes in-which a man or family is told ‘by the gods’ to build a boat to be rescued from a global flood caused by evil on Earth. The stories usually include animals, and a mountain in-which the survives are saved. The Bible's flood is fairly new compared to some of them; some of the earliest recorded writings describe a flood.
BalasHapusLately I've been feeling something that I would describe as melancholy. Not full on depression, just slight sadness, boredom, and laziness. I've rationalized that weed and my mental idleness may be to blame. Because of this, I'm going to try to quit weed for 1 month and go out and do more to improve my mental health. I need a list of fun, interesting, or entertaining things to do during this month of recovery.
