Read First Before Buy Syma Channel 2 4G Quad Copter
I have had helicopters and planes but this is my first quadcopter so, I'm not going to pit this against more expensive quads available. I just want to start by saying I had NEVER had so much fun with an RC anything. Compared to all other flying and land vehicles this is my new favorite. I will never buy another helicopter again for sure. This little cheap quadcopter has made an overwhelming impression on me. I can't believe the technology and durability for this price, it truly is impressive. The build QUALITY is so simple and yet so perfect. There are no frills such as blinking LED's for looks or extra design for the body. This is a plain design but don't let its outside looks fool you. The gyro is top notch. I have purposely flipped this thing repeatedly, a neat feature I will mention later, and it always finds itself upright and stable. There are two speeds, High and Low. Low is wonderful for beginner flyers. I have let me 7 and 8 year old girls fly this and they do very well and have zero flying experience. The high speed is well, HIGH! You better have some skills built up when you press that button! It can perform some amazing feats in the right hands. The eversion flip feature I mentioned earlier is a bonus Syma built in for extra fun. Just get it up to about 10 feet, push the button and hit the right stick and a perfect eversion flip it will perform, every time! FLIGHT TIME is about 8 minutes, which is good enough, wish extra batteries were available easily though for extended flying time. DURABILITY is equally on par with the flight characteristics, this thing is dang near indestructible! No foam or balsa here, or wood props to splinter into pieces every time you whack something. I have smacked this thing into the side of my house at nearly full speed from about 15 feet high outside and it crashed down from there and hit my driveway. I flipped it over and took right back off, no issue or damage! AMAZING! The other thing I have done is rigged a small VGA camera to it. Now this thing is not meant to handle any load and amazingly it does well. The camera is quite small almost a keychain type. I have taken some very cool footage so far. The biggest thing this opened my eyes to was the possibility of bigger and better quads that can handle larger camera for FPV or first person view. I would love to see SYMA build a larger more powerful quadcopter capable of carrying a goPro or something for FPV. I would pay $200 just for that! Syma has made me a believer in its brand and I will always look to them from now on as a top notch RC brand, I expect to see BIG things from them in the future, hint, hint SYMA! So in conclusion whether beginner or expert you will thoroughly be impressed with this little quadcopter as it's worth the low, low price and probably $100 more! Amazon's price is the best hands down don't waste your time looking elsewhere. Don't hesitate to buy if you are interested in trying out a quadcopter for yourself, you will not be disappointed!

The Syma X1 is an excellent entry-level quadcopter. It is durable (already survived 100+ crashes), relatively easy to fly, and an impressive value. It is suitable for indoors and outdoors use and I can't recommend it enough for any looking to get into R/C quadcopters or simply looking for something fun to try out.
BalasHapusDesign/Build:
The Syma X1 is a very basic model - it has the four propellers, plastic frame, small electronics board, and a thin plastic cover (either a UFO, Bumblebee, or Spaceship - simply aesthetic). It is very light and the battery (included) clips into the undercarriage of the craft. I was surprised at how durable this quadcopter was - I've crashed it countless times into walls, ceilings, down the stairs, etc. Each time I cringe slightly at the sound, but the worst that has happened is the battery has popped out. Also, Syma includes an extra set of propellers in case you do damage any of them.
Remote Control:
Again, a very basic model - but it seems to work fine. The left stick controls altitude and bearing, while the right stick controls lateral motion (left/right/etc. sway). You can also bind other, more advanced, controls to the Syma X1 if you so desire. It takes 4AA batteries (not included).
Flying Experience:
Fun! It definitely takes a few flights to become moderately proficient, but once you get the hang of it, it really is very enjoyable to fly. One tip is to always remember the orientation of the craft - i.e. which way is forward pointing. This makes navigation much, much easier. The remote also has a flip button built in, and as long as you have enough altitude it will flip without a hitch.
Battery:
It ships with one 350mAh battery, which is enough for almost 10 minutes of flying. It can be frustrating to have to put it away after just ten minutes (and wait an hour+ to charge it), but to be fair, nearly all quadcopters have a similarly limited flight time. I'd recommend buying 2 or 3 extra batteries if you think you'll be using it a fair amount, or with multiple people. The battery charger is basic and only works with batteries that have built in over charge protection - so make sure you're buying the right ones!
Negatives:
There really aren't many I can think of, other than it is a very basic model. No video, no auto-hover, agility is somewhat limited - sometimes feels like there's a lag as you're moving back and forth. But given the price point, I didn't expect too much - and you can even add a small keychain camera to get some relatively decent footage later on!
Final thoughts:
If you're at all interested in quadcopters, go ahead and buy it! You really won't regret it - it is a ton of fun, a low cost way to try it out, and it is surprisingly durable. Have fun and I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.
This quad is amazing!
BalasHapusI got this quad four days ago, and have had about seven flights. This thing is by far an exceptional product. My experience with helicopters began with my dad giving me a esky Lama V2. I hated that that thing. It was so unstable and I was never able to fly it without breaking something. It now sits in a corner Nothing working, and parts of it scavenged for other projects. Then I got a syma 107 It was fun to fly, but after about a week I decided I needed something more. I ordered a Wl v911, and this Syma X1. The V911 broke whiten two days, Its problem was the tail motor burned out I have ordered replacements.
Now to this product: Its agility is not so good, But it can get going very fast. It is a mode 2 controller (Throttle and rotation on the left, and forward, backward, left, and right on the right). This controller has two sensitivity modes, low and high, these are selected by the button on the top left of the controller. low is great for flying indoors, wile high is great for outside; although It cannot handle wind. It has a 350 mah battery that keeps it flying for about eight minutes. It is exceptionally durable, with four carbon fiber blades, and very flexible rotors. It is very stable when you have it trimmed out it will stay in exactally on spot.
Pros:
Durability I have crashed it many times in spectacular crashes, great for a beginner
Power
ability to do flips
stability
2.4 ghz can fly it with lots of friends
Cons:
battery life, you don't quite feel satisfied when you finish
cheesy center plastic cover
low agility
Overall this is a great product, and I would highly recommend. The main bad thing is the battery life, but it is easy to get them off the syma parts store.

BalasHapusI previously had a Syma 107g and decided to try a quadcopter. I was able to get this for $35.99 on sale with free shipping. It's an incredible value considering its quality. I have been flying it for 3 days now and it has stood up to the abuse of beginner's mistakes without any issues. I have crashed it numerous times but it still flies perfectly without any noticeable decline in performance. I think this is because the 4 rotors are fixed and do not take fine adjustments for steering like the single blade copters do. As long as something doesn't physically break I'm pretty sure it will last a long time (there are no small parts or joints to worry about). It came with an extra pack of blades but one was bent in the original packaging. Flight time is about 11 minutes indoors and very close to that outdoors. It handles a light breeze without any problems and the range is great as it never left the serviceable area in a large back yard.
EDIT: I finally became a good enough pilot to fly this outside in a large wide open space with lots of wind. Disregard the 40 meter range this thing supposedly has. I was able to control it over 100 meters (~330feet) away with no problems at all and the signal did not cut. I used Google Earth to verify the distances. This is no exaggeration. It's really an amazing device as it handles the wind and remains very stable during flight.
I've attached a video of the long distance flight.

BalasHapusVideo shows indoor flight and roll over tricks.
This was my first RC Quad and though it took about 3-4 hours of total flying time to learn how to fly, you will get the hang of it. Practice on floors with carpet or outside on the grass and you'll be fine. Actually I have crashed this thing into walls onto the street and on hardwood floors and I've yet to even break a blade. In the video you'll see I took off the UFO shell because I like the look of the motherboard showing instead. I think this RC Quadcopter is a perfect trainer and also for more advanced users, it's something to use indoors, or take some "trick" manuever risks without breaking the bank on a higher end RC Quadcopter. Buy it, you wont regret it.
Let me preface by saying that I own around 40 RC helicopter ranging from high end $3000 gassers to cheap $25 fp toys. This was my first quad. I bought this at the 49.99 price point and have no regrets even though they are now 39.99
BalasHapusThis has been the best $50 that I have spent in a long time. There are so many things going for this kit, where do I begin.
The Good
-Incredibly durable. I have crashed countless times from goofing around and flying indoors and have yet to cause any permanent damage. Even though this is a cheap product they made good choices in durable materials.
-Very stable and easy to fly. My wife has no experience with helicopters, but I was able to get her to try this out in our living room.
-Stable in outdoor conditions. I was surprised at the ability to fly this in light-breeze conditions.
-Payload capacity. For fun, I strapped an iPod nano to the bottom to shoot video. This weighs 35 grams and the quad seemed to be able to handle it.
-It can do flips! Nuf said.
The Bad
- Not a whole lot to say but.....
-I had some glitching problems, but rerouted the antenna through the canopy, and they seemed to go away.
-Battery life is better than the similar sized fp helicopters but with as much fun as these are, it always seems short. Spare batteries can be had for about $7.
In conclusion, after buying one of these I bought five more at the new lower price and plan on giving them away as Christmas gifts this year. This product should be up there as one of the best toys of the year.
This is a great little quad exactly the same size as the Blade MQX. It flies very well and is very durable. The auto flip function is very fun and it can be bound to the 9x Tx's out there but you'll have to switch around a few things ;)
