Maisto Rock Crawler Colors Vary

After looking for R/C trucks for my 3 year old boys at stores like Toys R Us and some local hobby shops, I did a little research on-line and discovered Maisto R/C trucks. I saw a video for one on Youtube and was convinced that this was the one I needed to get for my boys to play with inside the house or to especially use outside of the house. Their trucks climb up and over most any obstacle in their path. I would lay down in our backyard and they can get their trucks to crawl up and over me! Manufacturer may say it is for kids older than 6 or 7, but my three year olds took little time to learn how to work their trucks. The only con I can think of: batteries. If you use it a lot, some recharable batteries would be a good idea. These trucks use them up pretty quick.

  1. I bought this for my five year old for his birthday and he simply can't get enough of it. It is very easy for him to use and he got the hang of driving it within a few minutes. Despite some reviews I think it is quite fast and so does my son. That being said I am not a remote control car expert and this is the first one I have bought other than a toddler remote control car. The battery life was better than expected but like others have said I would recommend getting some rechargeable batteries. It will be cheaper in the long run.
Driving the car is very easy. It goes forward, reverse and turns left and right by turning a wheel on the side of the remote. I was impressed with how well this truck goes over obstacles. It seldom gets stuck on things and like I said before I find it to be quite fast. Some reviews said it was was on the slow side but it does the job for my five year old. I was reluctant to get this for him because it is expensive but I am very glad it I did. It is perfect for his age and seems very durable. He is quite rough with it and his 18 month old sister is pretty rough with too. It has fallen down stairs multiple times and is still going strong. I would recommend this product for all kids.

  2. To correct the description, it actually needs 6 AA batteries.

I wanted an inexpensive off road R/C vehicle that didn't cost much over $100. I'm not planning on racing, just something for the yard and driveway. Well, this fit the bill perfectly. It will crawl over grass, sidewalks, sand, small animals, almost anything that gets in it's way. It does exactly what you think those cheap R/C trucks SHOULD do but don't. I drove it in the rain and through shallow water and it did great. The only downside so far is the whine of the motors but it probably geared to heck to do all that it does. I paid less for it at Wally World so shop around.

    + two motors
    + true four wheel drive
+ AA batteries (not some battery pack that is hard to find)
+ good value for the money
    + good tires and suspension

    - motor/gear whine

  3. I have two of these now, got the first one at Amazon for my 8yo's birthday and he loves it. My boys have abused it driving around our bumpy back yard, off the deck, etc. I got the second one at Wal-Mart for my 5yo's birthday because he just had to have one, too (it's cheaper at Wal-Mart, at least during the 2011 holiday season). It really does climb just about anything, including piles of sticks and 4x4 landscaping timbers. Good range on the controller, easy to maneuver, and just plain rugged. And you can't beat the price!

  4. We own two of these and they are amazing for the $$$. People here are complaining that they are slow. The are rock CRAWLERS and are supposed to be slow. For the size they are very good at climbing and are fairly durable too. My 4 year old loves driving hers and it is slow enough that she doesn't crash. It does have a wide turning radius because it is 4 wheel drive and designed to be used outside where it doesn't matter. If you are looking for a fast street car or a tiny indoor car, don't buy this. If you are looking for a good climber that can go on most any terrain, this is your toy. Get some rechargable AA batteries, though. Check out all the vids on YouTube and see it for yourself.

  6. The Maisto rc rock crawler is tons of for me. Other people say that is a really high pitch wine to the truck. Well there is a wine but it is only the trucks torque. The truck is a toy grade. A toy grade for those who dont know is were you get a truck and if it breaks you throw it away. But other then that this truck is a champion. I live out in the country and it is always wet in some areas so i needed something that would handle that. So instead of going out and buying a really expensive one for like 300 dollars i went out and bought this one. To my surprise it handle everything i put in its way. The truck does hill climbs not really steep, rock crawling, not to deep of mud bogging but still does it. Its not real fast but that is only cause its meant for crawling. Truck is fun even for adults, kids will love it. I know i sure do. I am not disappointed in it at all. I was so happy with it i was going to go out and get another one. But they were out.

  8. I bough this for my sons 4th birthday and he loves it. i have a Redcat racing rs10 hobby grade crawler and he wanted his own to drive with me. this isnt going to hop bolders or logs like mine will only because with the aa batteries it doesnt have the power to force the wheels to turn when stuck. iv seen people online easily soder connecter for a 6 cell rechargable battery wich will give it plenty of power. this truck is just as fast as similar priced rc cars but it will go through grass gravel rocks mud and ect MUCH better than similar cars wich makes it alot more fun. he also got a new bright pickup from his grandpa same size and it has a rechargable batterie but iit hardly goes through grass or even gravel and its no faster. so if your looking for a cheap hobby grade crawler get a redcat rs10 for 150$ it will everything you could think of much better. but if your looking for an rc of anykind in this price range this is it. and like i said if you fit a more powerful battery this would be a better crawler but its a great rc toy as is. thanks for reading.
