Best Review on HPI Racing 1146 Firebolt Motor
I bought a Traxxas Stampede for my son for his birthday. Motor burnt up 4 times in 1 week. Even though Hobby Shop was replacing for free it was burning $20 in gas to drive down there each time. They recommended different ways to break in motor but motors continued to fail. Researched online and found practically nobody likes the Titan 12t Motor and had similar problems. I ordered 2 of the HPI 15t Motors to see if I could find a cheaper, stronger alternative till I upgrade to brushless. The HPI motor I installed I didn't even break in. Wanted to see what kind of beating the motor could take. I ran this motor hard and had no problems. Decided to keep pushing motor harder and harder checking temps. 1 Day I ran the motor up to 230degrees and just new the motor was done. Smoke was coming out. Next day put it back on the street and what do you know, it still worked for a few days till it finally blew. I recommend this motor highly if you want a more reliable brushed motor for Traxxas vehicles. The Titan 12t could barely handle 140degrees. Not recommending you run the HPI to 230degrees but this motor is way more forgiving then the stock Titan 12t Crap!

Motor was fine but when i put it in the esc was not working right so i thought it was the motor but then i tried a aa battery to see if it was the esc or the motor it was the esc so the motor was great
BalasHapusI bought this motor and put it into my Tamiya Blackfoot Xtreme, at first I was disappointed because my battery didn't have enough juice to run it but then I put in a Traxxas 5000mah 7 cell battery and this motor screams. It drains the battery quick in my truck but I don't mind. My truck can now match the speed of the Traxxas Slash trophy truck. Which is running on a 550 12t motor. Pretty sweet if you ask me. Highly Recommended but remember you will need to upgrade to a 7 cell battery pack.
BalasHapusWhat can I say, burned out another stock traxxas motor and ordered this lil guy as a replacement. I believe this motor to be an UPGRADE!! Put the motor on and broke it in at half throttle for 25 mins, motor never even got warm!! First run was in a parking lot and it was fast, smooth and reliable. Great motor, great product.......now lets just see how it holds up over time. Highly recomend. One word of advise BREAK-IN!!
BalasHapusI got this motor for 12$ as a replacement for the stock motor in a $100 drift car also bought here on Amazon. This is the stock motor in the HPI sport 2 chassis so I knew it would work well in my car and I was right. With a 8.4v batt. and grip tires it screams!! The stock ESC doe sheat up some but its not bad and i may replace it too. All in all 100% satisfied with this purchase.
BalasHapusI put this thing on and just let it rip, it is much faster and has better torqe than the stock titan motor, also it is signifigantly quieter than the stock motor
BalasHapusAwesome motor! The people who are giving negative reviews do not know how to properly gear a RC car/motor. The reason the motor is burning up/melting is because your gearing is to high/fast. Lower your gearing and check the temps of your motor to make sure it is not over geared.
